The Band

Formed in 2009, Succotash is a Portland, Oregon-based acoustic music trio.

Succotash plays what is often described as “American Roots Music.” The genre spans jug band music, old time dance tunes, gospel, folk, blues and bluegrass. Succotash draws material from the Carter Family, the Delmore Brothers, Hazel Dickens, the Girls of the Golden West, Hank Williams, and other artists from the 1930s-50s, as well as material from contemporary artists – including Gillian Welch, Martha Scanlan, and Brian Bowers.

Repertoire includes rags, stomps and original/eclectic arrangements of traditional tunes and songs. True to the group's name, Succotash mixes it up with delicious vocal harmonies and unusual arrangements, all with a flair for fun.

 Succotash is:
  • Allison Handler (Banjo, Guitar, Vocals)
  • Joe Liebezeit (Mandolin, Harmonica, Guitar, Banjo, Vocals)

Mary Rondthaler (Guitar, Washtub Bass, Vocals)
